New benefits
27 additional covered injuries and treatmentsBenefits are now available for animal bites, carbon monoxide poisoning, electric shocks, injuries from a robbery or aggravated assault, sprains, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and more.
Initial accident benefitFor every approved claim, we'll add an initial accident benefit to help employees cover even more out-of-pocket costs.
Parental caregiver benefitsInsureds can extend their core accident coverage to parents, in-laws or grandparents who reside with them full-time. Note: These benefits are currently only quotable on cases with 1,000 lives or more. |
Family care benefitsPays benefits if the insured needs to arrange new child care or pet care services as a result of their injury.
First responders and health care worker benefitsFirst responders and health care workers can receive additional support for medical events they may face on the job. And our health systems additional benefit rider allows health care workers to receive higher benefit amounts for certain medical services provided within their employer's system. |
Enhanced benefits
Higher benefit payoutsHigher benefit amounts are available in each of our three standard plan designs—Base, Classic and Premier—and we'll standardly add an initial accident benefit to each approved claim.
Enhanced catastrophic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) benefitEnhances the standard catastrophic accident benefit by providing advance benefit payments for terminal injuries and benefits for mass shooting deaths, natural disaster deaths, survivor income and workplace deaths. |
Enhanced wellness screening benefitIncludes standard wellness screenings plus benefits for annual physicals, biometric screenings, dental exams/cleanings, eye exams, immunizations and well-child exams.
Insured organized sport activity benefitExpands the child organized sport activity benefit rider so primary insureds and their covered spouses receive higher benefit amounts if they experience an accident that occurs during organized sporting events. |

It pays a fixed amount and does not cover losses due to sickness, nor does it cover the cost of all hospital and medical services. It is not a replacement for major medical or other comprehensive coverage and does not satisfy the minimum essential coverage requirements of the Affordable Care Act. Wellness screening benefit rider form number is SBC-03513-WEL 1/18 in most states. The enhanced wellness screening benefit rider form number is SBC-03515-Wel 6/23. Selected at application and available for an additional cost, this rider provides an insured with a benefit if the insured incurs an expense as a result of receiving any of the screening tests described in the rider.
The organized sport activity benefit riders are available for an additional cost. The organized sport activity benefit rider form number in most states is SBC-03513-COS 2/24. Selected at application, this rider standardly provides an additional 25%, up to $5,000, for benefits payable under the policy if the accident occurred while an insured and/or insured dependent child was participating in an organized sport. Participants must be insured by the policy on the date the accident occurred.
